Sputtr, currently in beta, is a web application with a simple goal: it gives you a one-stop panel for you to do search on various different search engine and sites. This is a great idea, because I often find myself having to huddle through different websites to do multiple searches on a certain keyword.

Sputtr Interface
Sputtr main interface (you can see it on screenshot above) is unique compared to other available search engines. Tabs of other search engines are placed below the search form and you can find very easily each of them.
In addition to the regular search engines (Google, Ask, Live, Yahoo!), Sputtr has also buttons for social web site (digg, YouTube etc), shopping (amazon and ebay), dictionary search and excyclopedias (Wikipedia, IMDB) and more.
Sputtr features
If you do not see your favorite search engine on Sputtr main page do not worry, you can very easily add a lot more engines by clicking on "Customize this page" button which is placed on top of page. By adding additional search engines from this option your added engines will not be saved after you live this web site, to save any changes made on main page you need to by singed in.
Sputtr is not real metasearch engine because you cannot do multiple searches. I think it would be cool to launch searches more than one (or all!) search engines in one go. The search result does not open in new tab/window unless you setup that option in "Customize this page menu".
To use this engine for search it is enough to type you keyword in search field and click on desired engine which you want to use. If you do not understand English quiet well or you want to search on other languages on bottom of page you can find International Versions: UK, DE, NL, FR, IT, ES, AT, CH, CN. Using these links you can search on your language and also entire menu and options are translated on certain language.
Sputtr works great in most of popular web browsers. Web Browsers which I did use for this test are Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Netscape and Safari 3.0. I didn’t find any bugs by using these web browsers. Main page is loading very fast in above named browsers considering that this is web 2.0 search engine.
Behind Sputtr Main Page
So what else expect search engine you can find on their website? Well not too much, except usual pages like “Contact Us” “Help” “About Us” there is also a Sputtr Blog where you can find latest news and updates about this great search engine, and also where you can tell what you think about this project.
Final Conclusions
In essence, this is a nifty tool and I’m definitely bookmarking it. I am sure it works for most people’s need, while some more compulsive users like me might be craving for more features like I just mentioned above. Also, don’t forget to check their blogs often for more updates on the site.
