+ Simplicity is the key of the new Firefox user interface. There are thousands of bug fixes in 2.0 vs 1.5.x, and 99% of options that were changed from the old options menu are still available in about:config. Web pages are loading much faster compared with previous Firefox version. Protection has been added to alert when you visit a known fake site. If you experience a crash in Firefox the next time you start Firefox, it will detect an abnormal shut down and will prompt you to choose whether you want to restore the open session or start a new one. Firefox 2 automatically checks any text entered in multiline text boxes for proper spelling.
- It does not support SSL 2.0. If for any reason you need to uninstall Firefox or format the computer, installing all the extensions again is time consuming. It seems to be increasingly hard to find where Firefox is going to put its options, as they change about with each update. Firefox 2.0 is not as stable as 1.5 and it seems to use up more RAM. Your themes may not work until they are updated. Although devoted to Mozilla, I do find the Opera context menu item (when clicking in the address bar) “Paste and Go” very handy. |

Version 2.0 posts an interface slightly altered and more with the mode of the moment: the buttons and other elements are proposed better in the event of use and of overflight at the mouse. A filter antiphishing also makes its appearance in order to avoid finding you on false sites usurping the identity of institutional sites (banks for example). The management of flows RSS was improved.
In the event of planting, the open tabs and the remote loadings in progress from now on are restored in their initial state.
Firefox 2.0 possesses an integrated dictionary. When you write an email or comment in blogs, forums etc…, the not recognized words are mark with red line. To correct those word just right click on them and choose correct one.
Note that some of the plugins proposed for the previous models (line 1.5) are not compatible with this version 2. During the first starting, Firefox checks updates so are available in order to install them or, if necessary, to decontaminate the out-of-date plugins.
