Backup all important files and settings before Windows XP Installation

You must reinstall your system but you are afraid to lose your parameters and your data? Windows XP proposes a very interesting tool to safeguard your parameters before formatting and to be able to quickly restore them after formatting.

You can use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard: You can transfer your parameters Internet Explorer, Outlook, Microsoft Office, the parameters of your network connections and many other things, of your old system on the new one. It is thus tool of a very useful and effective safeguard.

Then click on “Next”:

  9. Once the transferring finished you can click on the button “Finish”;

Stage 2: Restoration of your data and parameters

The procedure of restoration is much simpler and fast since it is not enough for you anymore but to indicate where is located the backup files. The assistant undertakes to position them back.

  1. Open “Files and Settings Transfer Wizard” like we did explained above. This time, indicate that the PC is the “News computer” (the computer to which you wish to apply the settings and data which you did backup);
  2. Notch “I don’t need the Wizard Disk. I have already collected my files and settings from my old computer” then click on “Next”:
  3. In the window which follows notch “Other” and select the file which was recorded on your additional partition or another support by the “Browse” button. Once selected click on “Next”:
  4. The restoration is in hand as you can see. This procedure can take several minutes according to the size of data to be restored and the speed of execution of your PC.
  5. Once the finished restoration, click on the “Finish” button:
  6. The assistant indicates to you that you must restart your computer so that the modifications are activated:

Before clicking on “Yes” thus think of safeguarding your work if you have open software. Then open your session again and check that your data (emails, contacts, etc…) and parameters are well in place.
