Always visible Status Bar in Internet Explorer

This Windows XP tip will help you to make Internet Explorer 6 status bar always visible while you work with him.

  1. Close all Internet Explorer windows. Run only one Internet Explorer window,
  2. Go to View and check Status Bar (choose Status Bar from drop down window),
  3. Go to View than Toolbars and choose option “Lock the Toolbar”,
  4. Hold press CTRL button on keyboard and close Internet Explorer window by clicking X in top right corner of window,
  5. Open Windows Explorer (Start > Programs > Accessories) and do the same like in step 2 and 3,
  6. Go to Tools and choose Folder Options and Click View tab,
  7. Click on button Apply to all folders and click OK,
  8. Hold press CTRL button on keyboard and close Windows Explorer window by clicking X in top right corner of window,
  9. Now open any page in Internet Explorer and right mouse click on any link on that page. Choose "Open in New Window",
  10. Click Start choose Run...,
  11. Type regedit and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main
    and check are the values OK "Show_StatusBar"="yes", "Show_URLinStatusBar"="yes"

There is also one more way to do this:

  1. Click Start and choose Run,
  2. Now type regedit and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main
  3. Find Show_StatusBar,
  4. Click Edit and from drop down window choose Permissions... and click on button Advanced,
  5. Find your username (which you are using for login), select him and click Edit button,
  6. Find Set Values and check Deny. Click OK before you close all window.
