Modify the planning of the automatic defragmentation

We already wrote the tip on how you can use Disk Defragmenter inside Windows Vista to defragment your hard drive. But this tip is a little bit different because we will show you how you can modify the planning of the automatic defragmentation.

Contrary to previous editions of Windows, Vista by defect charges the problems if disk defragmentation while regularly launching work of optimization of the distribution of the files on the discs.

By defect, work of defragmentation of the discs is carried out once per week … But the frequency and the hour of the defragmentation can be very easily changed.

  1. Open the Start menu and click on My Computer.
  2. Click on any partition disc (“C: ” for example) by using the right button of the mouse.
  3. Select the Proprieties option in the contextual menu.
  4. Activate the Tools tab,
  5. Click on Defragment now and accept the rise in privileges.
  6. Click on Modifying planning.
  7. Choose the frequency (for example, “Every day” or “Every month”).
  8. Choose the day (in the case of monthly or weekly frequencies).
  9. Choose finally the hour to which this defragmentation will be launched.
  10. Confirm each box by “OK".
