If you are one of those users which are putting all they need on desktop, than throughout time yow will not have enough space. One of suggestion which we can give you is to compress icons. To do something like to fallow next steps:

  1. Right mouse click on your desktop (we hope that you have enough space for this step :>),
  2. Now choose Properties,
  3. Inside new open window choose tab Appearance and click o Advanced,
  4. From "Item" list choose "Icon Spacing (Vertical)" if you want to compress them by vertical otherwise choose "Icon Spacing (Horizontal)"
  5. Values inside field next to this option decrease and then choose OK
  6. Now once again right mouse click on desktop and choose "Align to Grid"

You can repeat this step by increasing and decreasing this value, while you get enough space on your desktop. If you want to Windows setup these values by default, than right mouse on desktop and choose "Auto Arrange".
