By using this Tips for Windows Vista you can very easily close Windows Media Player Update Wizard, because sometimes he can be very annoying with his messages about WMP latest updates.

We already publish our Trick how you can turn off Windows Media Player Automatic updates for earlier versions of WMP like versions 7.0, 7.1 and 8.0, but this tricks is only for newest WMP versions like 9, 10 and 11.

If you threw an eye in the properties of the multi-media reader Windows Media Player (we are speaking about versions 9, 10 or 11), you have perhaps noticed that it is impossible to decontaminate the automatic updates of the software.

Indeed, it is only proposed to choose the period of the updates, namely the every day, every week or every month. There is however a means of circumventing this restriction while passing by the register of Windows. Here’s how to Close Windows Media Player Update Wizard:

  • First of all you need to lunch registry editor, to do that click Start, choose Run… and type regedit,
  • Once entered the editor, go to the following tree structure: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft
  • Then select the Microsoft repertory and use right click with the mouse on this one. In the contextual menu which appears select “New” then “Key”, a new key appears. Click on key which you did created with the right button of the mouse and to select “Rename” and rename it to “WindowsMediaPlayer”.
  • Select the latter then and to place themselves in the right part. Click within the white part with the right button of the mouse and inside the contextual menu which appears select “New” then “Value DWORD”
